A spokesman for the office said they will conduct a sathyagraha in front of the Jaffna party office if the party takes a wrong decision on these issues at the forthcoming Central Committee meeting. "We are waiting until the Central Committee takes the final decision," he said. TULF sources said the tussle over the appointment of the national list MP and a party leader is continuing. Some members have proposed TULF MP Joseph Pararajasingham for the post of party president while others back Senior Vice President V. Anandasangaree, the sources said. The Party's National List seat became vacant after the death of Party President M. Sivasithamparam. General Secretary R. Sampanthan and MP Joseph Pararajasingham had suggested that K.Thurairatnam be nominated. Mr. Anandasangaree had proposed V. Muthulingam's name for the National List seat. When contacted Mr. Anandasangaree declined to make any comment on the party's current issues. General Secretary R. Sampanthan told the Daily News that the party's Central Committee will decide on filling the national list seat and select the party leader. Tamil National Alliance leaders are scheduled to meet Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Wednesday and the Central Committee meeting will be held thereafter, party sources said. |
