Prof. Bengt Lorstad Rector of the University of Kristianstad, Sweden will be visiting The Open University of Sri Lanka from April 23 to 25 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Prof. Uma Coomaraswamy, Vice Chancellor of The Open University of Sri Lanka said "a program has been drawn up to facilitate the identification of opportunities for teacher and student exchange, co-operation, joint academic and research activities and development of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree program of both universities". The benefits and the broadening of horizons through student/academic exchange programs have long been proven and strategic alliances with foreign universities have always been looked upon with great enthusiasm, she added. Acknowledging the mutual value of such exchanges the Swedish government established the Linnaeus-Palme scholarship fund with the aim of strengthening co-operation between universities in Sweden and universities in developing countries. |
