Sexual health education for young women

The Institute of the Development of Community Strengths, Matara will launch sexual health educational programs for young women in the southern region.

Under the project, awareness programs have already been started in Weligama, Matara, Devinuwara and Dickwella Divisional Secretariat areas in the Matara district.

According to Kondrad Ranawaka, Field Director, attached to the institute over 800 young women will attend sexual health education program under the first stage.

In addition, at the request of the Southern Regional Community leaders financial assistance and technology would also be provided to improve their small scale business activities.

Plans have also been made to launch these awareness sexual health programs in Galle and Hambantota district.

The main aim of this program is to rescue young women from sexually transmitted diseases and engage them in small scale business development activities, Field Director told the Daily News.
