RRAN seeks offers for sea transport

Individuals and organizations are invited to submit their offers to provide transport facilities for passengers and commercial cargo to the North by sea. When expressing the interest to undertake this assignment they should provide sufficient information about the resources readily available with them such as the sea going vessels together with the capacity, speed, the horsepower of the engine, communication facilities, Radar facilities, and insurance cover etc.

Officers should note that the service has to be operated from Talaimannar to Kurikadduvan in the Jaffna district. The ships should be able to berth alongside Talaimannar pier and Kurikadduvan pier and the drafts should suit both the jetties.

The charges to be levied should be affordable and in any case under Rs. 950 one way for transport of cargo the rate should be within Rs. 2790 per ton.

Expression of interest could be submitted addressed to the Chariman Resettlement & Rehabilitation Authority of the North, No. 14, Sir Baron Jayatillake Mawatha, Colombo 1 and is open to anyone who is in possession of the above mentioned facilities.
