Dankotuwa Porcelain wins award in manufacturing sector Dankotuwa Porcelain Limited, Sri Lanka's largest exporter of high quality porcelain tableware, was adjudged the winner in the manufacturing sector at this year's Presentation of Awards for the Best Annual Report organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka. The Corporate Report is a significant communication which a company makes to its stakeholders, advisors, analysists, investors and the financial community and a best in class corporate report is regarded as a benchmark for others to aspire to, a spokesman for the company said. Dankotuwa has shone in this respect meeting the very stringent criteria brought in by the Institute of Chartered Accountants this year. There were several new areas of measurement which in addition to financial information, focused on other aspects such as business strategy, business risk, corporate governance, environmental and social implications. This strongly emphasizes the fact that non-financial information is equally significant in the assessment of a company's business, he said. Dankotuwa has consistently remained vigilant in the areas of corporate governance, best practices and interaction with its workforce which are vital in the manufacturing process and which have greatly increased productivity. The company supplies porcelain to some of the world's biggest buyers, such as Macy's of the USA. The Walt Disney Company and Ralph Lauren. The Chairman of Dankotuwa Porcelain, Sunil Wijesinha said, "Having gained international recognition for the quality of our products and service, we are pleased to gain recognition for our corporate reporting and corporate governance. Spurred on by this recognition, we will continue to aspire to higher levels in corporate governance", he said. |
