Joseph Kenny heads YASL Joseph Kenny was elected President of the Yachting Association of Sri Lanka (National Sports Body for Sailing) at its Annual General Meeting held on the 14th March 2002. The others elected to hold office are Vice President, Capt. D. Dharmasiriwardne, Secretary, Mr. Mohan Balasuriya, Asst Secretary, Mrs. B. Wimaladharma, Treasurer, Lalin Jirasinha, Sailing Convenor, Asita Tennekoon and Training Co-ordinater, Duncan Fraser. National Olympic Committee Representatives - Mr. Joseph Kenny and Capt. D. Dharmasiriwardena. Medical and Doping Commission Dr. Sunil Settinayaka and Dr. I. A. Premaratne. The main issues discussed were to find suitable location for the Sailing Headquarters, to explore possibilities of improving the Sailing in Sri Lanka, an Island surrounded with water and many internal waterways, which would serve as a Tourist attraction and also to encourage Sailing as a Sport to the schoolchildren in this country. |
