N'Eliya braces for April festivities

by P. Rajaratnam in Nuwara Eliya

With the prevailing peace prospects in the country, Nuwara Eliya expects one of the biggest holiday crowds both locals and foreigners during the April seasonal festivities and the Police are geared for the occasion.

Senior Superintendent of Police Nuwara Eliya Division, Daynanda Bandra is not taking any chances, and has taken all possible measures to intensify all security arrangements.

Through public administrative systems, the Ravellers are being requested to enjoy their holiday with fun and frolic provided by Nuwara Eliya Mayor, Bandula Seneviratne and his April Festivities Committee without causing any nuisance or annoyance to the residents and other holiday makers. The police has valued to take stern action against hooliganism, drunkenness and all other forms of public nuisances.

Meanwhile, the S.S.P. has called for a full report of an alleged incident reported opposite the Cargills building, where the members of a family were subject to assault and humiliation. It is alleged that though the suspects were arrested, they were subsequently allowed to go scot-free.
