Today's women hold important place in society

The Diriya Foundation held a two day leadership training program at Mangrove Resource Conservation Centre and at Vinayawardena hall in Ambalantota.

The Diriya Foundation which was set up six years ago has 18 branches in Hambantota, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Moneragala, Ratnapura, Colombo, Kegalle and Nuwara Eliya. It is funded by CIDA.

Model parliament human rights committee and the human development are among the work programs of the Diriya Foundation.

Among the resource persons were Chairman, Diriya Foundation Wimal Kariyawasam and the Secretary Lionel Gulawatta.

Ambalantota D. S. R. M. V. Jayasekera spoke on the obligations and duties of the officers of the Divisional Secretariat, Attorney-at-Law Nimal Wijesooriya delivered Lecture on human rights and fundamental rights.

Chairman, Diriya Foundation Kariyawasam said that the women today assume an important place in the society on par with men. They achieved this place through many revolution over the centuries in the past.
