Govt to launch several youth services programs

by Ginigathena special correspondent

The UNF Government has taken steps to launch several youth services programs for the benefit of the youth, said Nuwara Eliya district MP K. K. Piyadasa.

He was speaking at the annual general meeting of the Regional Youth Clubs Federation in the Ambagamuwa (Ginigathena) Korale at the new conference hall in Ginigathena recently.

Mr. Piyadasa said that it was the present Prime Minister Ranil Wickremsinghe who initiated the first youth services program in the country as the then Minister of Youth Affairs of the former UNP regime headed by the late President J. R. Jayewardene.

As we have a Prime Minister who is well aware of the needs and problems of the youth, he will make the government to implement more youth services programs than the former PA regime did.

I hope to set up a special fund for the youth affairs in the Ambagamuwa Korale so that the youth in the area could solve their problems through it, he said.

Ambagamuwa Divisional Secretary M. Sarath Premawansa, Ambagamuwa YSO Priyantha Hettiarachchi and President of Regional Youth Club Federation in Ambagamuwa Korale W. G. Chandana also spoke.
