'Pottuvil hospital will be developed during my tenure'

by Addalaichenai group correspondent

Pottuvil Hospital will be developed with all amenities during my tenure of office. This is one of the five hospitals to be developed out of the 52 hospitals in the district. Our services are for people to whom the medical services are really and genuinely needed. Wherever the facilities are lacking we will be there to serve the common masses. No one has to come and tell us or even to remind, said Minister of Health, Nutrition and Welfare P. Dayaratne.

Minister Dayaratne was the chief guest at a ceremony to mark the handing over of medical equipment to Pottuvil Hospital held recently under the Government's 100 Days' program.

Minister Dayaratne went round the hospital saw for himself the prevailing condition and the urgent works to be carried out.

The Minister added that he was fully aware of the shortcomings of the hospital and the people sufferings to undergo treatment. That is why he has chosen this hospital as one of the five out of the 52 hospitals to be developed.

I am always concerned about helping generally or initiating projects on common good. I remember I have come here for commissioning the Power Supply at a time when the entire Pottuvil village was in complete darkness and today I have come here also to hand over medical equipment to this hospital which has been lacking in their requirements. These are services by which all the people are benefitted without any party differences. We serve people without looking into their party, religion or caste and others differences. I treat all as human-beings at all the times.

He said the employees of the Hospital and Medical Services are considered as a pure and noble profession and the people who are in the profession should see that their task is accomplished sincerely, honestly and efficiently. They also must work willingly and with the sense of generosity. They must always be kind and love to all, specially to patients seeking treatments here. Labourers should co-operate with Medical Officers and similarly doctors should treat them politely.

Minister also added that tidy and neatness should always be taken into consideration by all including the patients seeking treatments here. Hospital staff must take speical care in the cleanliness of the environs of the hospital premises not only inside but outside as well.

Medical Officer-in-Charge of the hospital Dr. A.L. Ameenudeen in his address thanked the Minister for his invaluable services to this hospital.

Pottuvil Pradeshiya Sabha former Chairman M.I. Cader Mohideen said employees working in the hospital may belong to different parties, but in the hospital they must discharge their duties honestly and sincerely.

Al-Haj Moulavi A.L.M. Cassim and former MP's Secretary M.A. Badur Khan and several others also spoke.
