Another golden fence For Jayasri Maha Bodhi

A second golden fence is to be built around the Jayasri Maha Bodhi of Anuradhapura. On the request of Venerable Pallegama Sirinivasa Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Atamasathana it was decided to construct the golden fence and this project will be implemented under the guidance of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

A special discussion regarding the construction of the golden fence was held yesterday at the Prime Minister's Office in the parliamentary complex with the Prime Minister presiding over the discussion.

The fence that will have 450 golden bars is expected to cost 30 million rupees.

The Prime Minister said that contribution of the whole country should be obtained for this worthy cause. It was decided to appoint a steering committee on the establishment of the golden fence and an advisory committee on funds and constructions.

Ministers W. J. M. Lokubandara, Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku, P. Harrison and Messers K. H. J. Wijedasa, Saman Athaudahetti, Lal Nanayakkara and Sunil Mendis were also present at the discussion.
