by Maharagama special correspondent The government sector is getting narrowed and the private enterprises are expanding all over the globe. Therefore we must urge the youth to seek self-employment, said the chairman and the Director General of the National Youth Services Council Sunil Jayaweera declaring open a pastry shop at Navinna Maharagama. This is a project launched by the 'Tharuse Bakers' of the Nisco co-operative societies union affiliated to the NYSC to coincide with the 100 days development programme of the government. Speaking further he said, the policy of the new government is to provide every possible support to develop the private sector. Under the NYSC loan scheme the young entrepreneurs are entering to the private business field. This is a good sign. The NYSC promotes their concept and provides every support for the youth. Private enterprise is the only way to solve the prevailing acute unemployment problem of the country. Hereafter the NYSC will not sponsor any vocational training course which will not fit the job market of the country. Training for the sake of training will not help the country's economy. A van service to distribute 'Tharuse Bakers' production in the locality was also started simultaneously with opening of the pastry shop. The Director (Development) Piyatissa Gamage Deputy Director (Youth Development) Bernard Perera, and the General Manager of the Nisco co-operative union J. K. Wimalasena also present. |
