"Around 175 to 200 golfers are expected to vie for the Celltell trophy and other awards made available by the sponsors, said captain of the club Lalin Samarawickrema at a media briefing held at the RCGC. Whilst thanking the sponsors for their assistance Lalin said such help and encouragement is essential to raise standards and the quality of the club in the wake of this third oldest club in the world being redeveloped and refurbished recently. It was gathered from the vice captain of the RCGC Lalith Ramanayanke that the tournament will be conducted in four categories, with Division 'A' comprising players whose handicaps range from 0-9, Division 'B', accommodates handicaps 10-18 Division 'C' is handicaps of 19-28, while Division 'D' for seniors over 65 years and for masters. Players could choose to play either in the morning or in the afternoon and will set off in flights numbering three. Celltell will provide trophies to the winner and two runner-ups in each group. Four other trophies for the closest to the pin (9th hole), longest drive (8th hole) hole-in-one and the best gross score, will also be awarded to each group. In addition to the Celltell Trophy for the overall winner (best nett score) from all four groups, A free phone with connection also awaits the overall winner, as well as anyone who achieves the hole-in-one.

Celltell's chief executive officer Dumindra Ratnayake said his company was pleased to sponsor this tournament because it provided an opportunity to build relationships outside of its core business, "Most of our clients are either current or potential golf players and the game is another appropriate medium for Celltell to communicate with the top notch in the corporate sector" he said.
