New Commonwealth Committee on Terrorism to meet in London LONDON, Jan 25 (AFP) - The new Commonwealth Committee on Terrorism (CCT), created after the September 11 attacks in the United States, will meet here on January 29 to discuss ways of blocking the financing of terrorist groups, the Commonwealth announced Thursday. Government ministers from Australia, the Bahamas, Britain, Canada, India, Malaysia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania and Tonga will attend the meeting. The committee will draw up a plan of action to help members in implementing a UN Security Council resolution -- drafted in the wake of the US terror attacks -- which calls on states to dry up terrorist funding. CCT's recommendations will be poresented to the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM) in Australia in March. |
