Sports medicine to be developed Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Johnston Fernando opening a Sports Medicine Seminar to educate doctors, physiotherapists, coaches and masseurs from five sporting bodies at Institute of Sports Medicine said that sports medicine will be developed with all needs in the government's 100-day program. He said sports medical personnel are essential to improve sports. Sri Lanka has embarked on international sports arena and sports medicine plays a major role in this endeavour. Head of sport medicine, consultant neurologist Dr. Githanjan Mendis said sports medicine will help to improve power, speed, strength and endurance as sports men and women. Prevention and treatment of sports injuries, nutrition, psychology and dope control activities are being carried out by his institute. |
