Sri Lankans out to repeat

Sri Lanka are determined to produce another giant killing performance when they confront the visiting Australian team in the second Caltex indoor cricket test match at the Austasia Sports Complex in Athurugiriya today.

The series is sponsored by Caltex and co sponsored by Mobitel, Galadari Hotel, Jet Asia, Dasis Printers, Fern, Ravindra KRS Ads, ITN and Lakhanda.

The Lankans created the biggest upset by defeating the World champions by three runs in the first test match played on Tuesday. This was also the first defeat for the Australians after a total of 56 victories in successive outings. Australia the current World champions in indoor cricket went in as the favourites to win the series against the newcomers Sri Lanka.

However the Lankans put up a stunning performance and snatched a thrilling three run win with Sanjeeva Jayaratne winning the man of the match award. The Australians have never lost a series since 1997 and they will be hoping to produce an improved performance and level the series.
