Water supply curtailed The National Water Supply and Drainage Board informs consumers in the Greater Colombo area that normal water supply will be curtailed daily due to the enforced 2 1/2 hour power interruption. Drought relief from India In response to a request to provide relief for drought victims, the Government of India has supplied 35 metric tonnes of rice, 40 metric tonnes of sugar and 50 metric tonnes of wheat. The token relief supplies, a symbol of the close relations between India and Sri Lanka, are being distributed to the needy by the Government of Sri Lanka. HC clerk held for passing forged currency The Criminal Investigation Department yesterday took into custody a clerk of the Colombo High Court record room for allegedly possessing and changing 33 forged US dollar notes. Investigations revealed that these forged US dollar notes had been kept at the High Court record room as productions in a case. CID counterfeit division is conducting investigations to ascertain whether any counterfeit racketeers are involved in the racket.
