The Commissioner General of Exports has been vested with powers to inquire into the genuineness of information submitted by the Excise Licensees up to now, according to a Cabinet decision taken on January 9. He has also been empowered to cancel licences of those who had forwarded incorrect or false information. In pursuance of the above Cabinet decision, the Commissioner requests the general public to furnish him any such information. A press release from the Secretary, Ministry of Finance said: "Any such information or representation from the general public on matters referred above should be made with details to the under-mentioned by registered post on or before 21st February 2002. Prakkrama Ekanayaka Bandara, Commissioner General of Excise, Excise Headquarters, Sri Lanka Excise Department, 28, Staple Street, Colombo 2. All such complaints will be acknowledged and formally inquired into". |
