Two
more soldiers handed over
by Deepal Smarasekara Two more soldiers wanted in connection with the Udatalawinna massacre on election day have been handed over to the special police team investigating the crime by the Military Police recently. One of them had been on active duty in the Jaffna peninsula while the other attached to the Boyagane Army Camp, Kurunegala had been reported missing since the day of the massacre. Superintendent of Police Kulasiri Udugampola who is leading the investigation team said all 28 soldiers of the Army platoon wanted in connection with the massacre are now in police custody. The two suspects handed over by the Military police were to be produced in court yesterday (January 23) after recording their statements. Police have still not been able to arrest the two sons of the former Deputy Minister of Defence Gen. Anuruddha Ratwatte who are wanted in connection with this incident, he said.
