More hotels in Nuwara Eliya by P. Rajaratnam in Nuwara Eliya Almost nine new hotels and guest house buildings have come up in and around Nuwara Eliya in the last two years and the owners want to open them during the coming Nuwara Eliya April festivities. Meanwhile, the leading hoteliers say that the tourism in its proper sense had not begun in this holiday resort or elsewhere, and the Deputy Manager of an ancient and famous hotel here said that they were crossing their fingers and waiting, with the anticipation that the usual influx of foreign tourists will come into the country and as usual visit the hill country capitals. however, the local holiday weekend crowds continue to patronise Nuwara Eliya, despite the lack of facilities and the township continue to be in its appalling conditions. The residents here feel that with the ongoing severe drought conditions at the moment, the annual shortage of drinking water may be experienced in the very near future. |
