Lankan market brand conscious - good sign of 'consumer maturity' By Shirajiv Sirimane The Sri Lankan market is very brand conscious, specially at the decision making level and that is a very good sign of 'consumer maturity, Director General Manager, John Keells Office', Automation Ltd, Chandima Perera said on Tuesday. Speaking at the launch of Toshiba Satellite 1800 A421 laptop computer, which is the first time, a notebook with a processing speed on or above IGHz is being launched in Sri Lanka Mr. Perera said due to this factor the company has no major competitor in the local market. "There are cheaper brands and assembled laptops in the local market but very few go for them," he said. "In fact, we have sold over 4,000 laptop's in the past nine years." The Toshiba Satellite 1800 A421 laptop computer has a large 13.3 or 14.1 TFT colour display, windows XP home edition, great multimedia offerings, 16 MB of Video memory and built in stereo speakers. It has unlimited mobile communications made easy with an integrated 56K modem and one touch Internet access and digital audio, CD and DVD playback control buttons. "One can simply go in for DVD/VCD without starting the computer."
