My effort to serve the masses during the past seven years failed - S. B. Dissanayake by Kalutara group correspondent All his efforts to serve the masses and help the President on the correct path during the last seven years had been wasted, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, S. B. Dissanayake said at a farewell ceremony to the Chairman of the Kalutara Urban Council, Nalin Mahes Perera. It was far better to take a proper decision at the proper time in the interests of the masses than to remain tied to a political party that was failing to respond to the needs of the people. This was what had motivated him to join the UNF, the Minister said. The resignation of Mahesh Perera from the chairmanship of Kalutara UC to join Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was also a step in the right direction the Minister said. He had no doubt Mr. Perera had the proven capacity to help the UNF Government in its development projects, Mr. Dissanayake said. Lands Minister, Rajitha Seneratne told the meeting that he had plans to tackle the question of landlessness. He was examining the problem closely in order to ensure that every landless family would own a plot of land and a home. |
