News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | JVP shedding crocodile tears - Champika Ranawaka by Ariyaratne Ganegoda Sihala Urumaya National Organiser and Colombo District leader Champika Ranawaka said that the JVP which now sheds crocodile tears on democracy should be responsible for the erosion of norms and ethics of democracy. Addressing a meetings at Kehelwatte, Gunasinghepura in Colombo Central Ranawaka said that the JVP who committed barbaric acts of public black-outs,and destroyed public property including hundreds of public transport facilities, culverts, bridges, and transformers in the past are now shedding crocodile tears on behalf of the people. He said that the UNP now in an alliance called United National Front which include Arumugam Thondaman, Periyasamy Chandrasekeran, M.S. Sellasamy are contesting the General Election under the common symbol of Elephant,in addition to Rauf Hakeem who is demanding a separate region in the East. He said that if the UNP wins the election this time, the Sinhala people will have to produce the next generation in a country not belonging to the Sinhalese, and the people will be dominated by racists and business racketeers. He emphasised that in the light of statistics of the last census, before long the Sinhalese will get reduced to a minority in the country and urged the people not to be subdued before kasippu and polythene rallies and vote for the Sihala Urumaya, the only party unstained with blood and consisting of able and educated set of patriots dedicated to build up this country. |
