Three killed in bomb blast

An LTTE suicide cadre blew himself yesterday around 10.30 am at the clock tower in Batticaloa killing three people and injuring four others, Defence sources told the Daily News yesterday.

The two people killed in this attack were later identified as intelligence officers attached to the Army. The four injured persons were admitted to the Batticaloa hospital.

Meanwhile, two soldiers who were on route clearing patrol on Allai Kantale road in Trincomalee were killed as a group of LTTE cadres launched an attack around 11 am yesterday. The LTTE cadres have removed the weapons of the dead soldiers.

The LTTE pistol group also shot dead two Police constables who were on their way to their homes after duty near the Ceylon Electricity Board office Valaichchenai.
