It was just an year ago that the voters in this country gave PA a mandate to administer the country for another six years. But the system was distorted by buying over the PA Ministers and Members of Parliament by 'Mudalalis' of the UNP. The massive gathering at this PA rally is a good omen that the present Government would come into power again. Despite the destructive war against terrorists, this regime has been able to bring prosperity and economic development in the country," the SPC Member said. "The LTTE is trying to bring a puppet to the leadership in this country. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga is a wise and far-sighted leader. She will continue in office for her full term of six years. People in this country have expressed great confidence in her and the PA administration. Every effort is being made to safeguard the territorial integrity of the nation and to make a durable peace, in spite of obstructions from opponents and rivals. It has now been the tactic of the UNP to sling mud at the President and her administration in a most despicable manner using PA dissidents who crossed over to the UNP recently. Tiger terrorists are making abortive attempts to give oxygen to the UNP. But peace loving citizens of the country would teach a bitter lesson to the elephant-tiger alliance, and bring victory for the Government headed by the President," SPC Member, Sarath Yapa Abeywardana added. Ranjan Wijewardana, PA Candidate for the Matara District, and several others spoke. |
