Leftist forces would emerge more powerful after Dec. 5

Galle central special correspondent

The Right Wing elements of the PA attempted to obstruct certain peoples friendly programs of the government, Human Resource Development, Technical and Vocational Education Minister Amarasiri Dodangoda said.

Addressing a meeting at Galle Town Hall he said that these elements could not thwart the progressive march of the PA.

He further said:

"The Leftist Forces would emerge more powerful and influential in the prospective People's Alliance government which is going to be established following its victory at the December 5 polls.

"The Right Wing elements of the PA attempted to obstruct certain people friendly moves of the Government. Nevertheless they could not hamper the progressive march of the government. The PA government which ended the 17 year curse of the UNP rule in 1994 was able to accomplish the most tremendous development services to the country during the past seven years which no government since independence could do, Minister Dodangoda observed. The UNP which very well understood their inability to be democratically elected to power through the process of general elections, later determined to engage in political conspiracies.

"Those who betrayed the democratic exercise of the people owing to the craving for money will have to pay for their political perjury. The people of the country know very well how to react to such sort of hostile political betrayals.

"The Right Wing operation to end the democratically elected PA rule failed owing to the establishment of the probationary government supported by the JVP. Such retrogressive elements within and out side the PA could not tolerate the democratic moves taken by the probationary rule. Specifically the cunning businessmen of the country were extremely shaken by certain decisions taken by that short lived rule and finally they resolved to disrupt the forward march of the government by way of bribing some Ministers, Deputies and MPs of the Government.

"The Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Administrative Reforms, Local Government, Provincial Councils and Southern Development Dr. Richard Pathirane alarmed that the UNP's mysterious agreement with the Tamil parties which operate in compliance with the LTTE's political agenda has suggested the establishment of an interim government for the North and East which would be the most detrimental proposal a party can agree upon.

Prabhakaran would never be satisfied merely with an interim rule instead making use of that he will definitely try to achieve his ultimate goal of establishing the Eelam. The UNP should disclose their promise to the LTTE to the country as Maha Nayaka theras of the three Chapters have demanded, he added.
