eChannelling shares on Stock Exchange soon

Millennium IT plans to make an initial public offering (IPO) of eChannelling shares on the Colombo Stock Market shortly. The company believes that the profits of a public service like eChannelling should be returned to the public through personal stakeholdership.

Millennium IT has developed and implemented the eChannelling service, which enables people to "channel" doctors through a local bank branch, pharmacy and other outlets or over the internet.

eChannelling eliminates all the unpleasantness normally involved in making a medical appointment. It is also a business opportunity, since the company enjoys a broad based, nationwide potential market for its services, a company spokesman said.

With so many medical appointments being made everyday, a very small charge per appointment is more than enough to cover the cost of the service and provide a healthy profit without placing any additional burden on patients, he said.

The market - people seeking medical attention - is relatively immune to economic fluctuations, offering an excellent prospect of long-term returns for the new company.

It is a fee-based utility delivering its services online - a business model very different from the advertising-revenue-based model of so many unviable dot-com businesses, the spokesman said.

Through eChannelling one could channel a doctor at Durdans and Nawaloka hospitals through any of 30 selected Sampath Bank branches.

The Sampath Bank branches are at Nawam Mawatha, Dehiwela, City Branch, Pettah, Borella, Kiribathgoda, Kurunegala, Kandy, Wattala, Piliyandala, Matara, Anuradhapura, Kuliyapitiya, Negombo, Panadura, Old Moor Street, Tissamaharama, Wennappuwa, Narahenpita, Nugegoda, Bambalapitiya, Fort Maharagama, Gampaha, Ratmalana, Moratuwa, Thimbirigasyaya, Ratnapura, Galle, Wellawatte, Kotahena and Malabe.

People can also make an appointment through internet (www.eChanelling.com). The eChannelling system will soon be extended to enable patients to make bookings and payments for health care services quickly and conveniently through more banks, pharmacies, post offices and supermarkets.

eChanelling is a revolutionary IT joint venture service between Millennium IT and Ayojana Fund Management (Pvt) Ltd, with Suntel the official telecommunication solutions provider.
