Call to donate blood

Kaluwanchikudy Base Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Sugunan Gunasingam requested the public to donate blood on August 10 from 8am.

All donors will be registered with the Blood Bank.

Book launch

A book titled Accelerated Mahaweli Development Programme Memoirs of a staffer, authored by Senaka Samarasinghe will be launched on August 11 at 3 p.m. at the Mahaweli Centre Auditorium.

Senaka Abhaya Samarasinghe , a graduate of the university of Ceylon, joined the public service in 1976 and his name became synomymous with the Mahaweli.

He has attempted to make the readers aware of the Mahaweli project through this book which is entirely based on his experience at the Mahaweli.

He has also organized various community development activities to inculcate religious values among the new settlers.

He is also closely associated with the Dharma Vijaya Foundation.
