Thirteen schools in Kilinochchi earmarked for development

Around 1,000 schools islandwide have been earmarked to be provided
with laboratories, computer training units, workshops, libraries and
music studios, Traditional Industries and Small Enterprise Development
Minister Douglas Devananda said.
The minister participating as the chief guest at a ceremony to mark
the laying of the foundation stone for the laboratory of Bharathi
College, Kilinochchi, said in accordance with the new scheme, Bharathi
College is among the 13 schools in the Kilinochchi district to be
developed. The minister said since independence, no other government had
allocated such large funds for development as the present government.
Funds have also been allocated to develop education in the North,
Devananda said. The minister said almost all destroyed schools had now
been rebuilt.
Devananda said he was certain that people in the the North would
contribute for the development of the country.
The minister said the Opposition was not happy with the development
taking place in the North.
