The Sri Lanka Navy intercepted 26 males illegally bound for Australia in two multi-day trawlers yesterday.

The trawlers bearing the registration numbers IMUL-A-08287 MTR and IMUL-A-0302 BCO with 14 and 12 persons on board were intercepted by Fast Naval Patrol Craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command off Valachchenai in the eastern seas. The asylum seekers were brought to Trincomalee Harbour to be handed over to the CID for further investigations.
