Lanka, Oman to ink deal:
Better working environment for Lankans in Oman

Sri Lanka and Oman agreed to draft an agreement which would ensure a
better working environment for Sri Lankans in Oman, Sri Lanka Foreign
Employment Bureau (SLFEB) chairman Amal Senadhilankara said.
Discussions in this regard was held between Foreign Employment
Promotion Minister Dilan Perera and Oman's Manpower Minister Sheikh
Abdulla bin Nassar al Bakir, Senadhilankara said. According to
Senadhilankara,Minister Al Bakir expressed Oman government's
satisfaction over the performance of Sri Lankan workers.
The Omani minister had said Omani employers have placed their trust
on Sri Lankan workers due to their excellent rapport with the
management.
The minister also told his Sri Lankan counterpart that the draft of
the agreement will be presented to Cabinet for approval.
He said a committee will be appointed to execute the plans and
implement the proposals of the agreement.
Sri Lankan workers, popular among Oman entrepreneurs and businessmen,
will be recruited in various fields including the dairy industry in the
country, he added. Responding to Minister Perera's explanation on high
quality Sri Lankan vocational training and technical education, he said
Oman is keen to obtain Sri Lankan expertise knowledge to enhance
technical and vocational education in Oman.
“Arrangements will be made to deploy Sri Lankan experts for
vocational and technical training in Oman soon,” the SLFEB chairman
said.
