Selling liquor without licence:
Excise sleuths raid night clubs

Excise sleuths took owners of two night clubs in Mount Lavinia
selling liquor without a licence during the weekend. A party with the
participation of around 200 youth between 17 to 22 who were at one night
club during the raid, an excise officer said. The youth had been lured
to the location by a message published in the social networking service,
the 'Face Book'.
The entrance tickets for the occasion had been priced at Rs. 1,000
each, he added. The sleuths had seized liquor valued over Rs. 800,000.
The four suspects arrested to be produced before court.
The raid was conducted on the instructions of Assistant Excise
Commissioner J. Pushpakumara and under the direction of Excise
Superintendent Channa Weerakkody, OICs K. B. S. Pathirana and Samantha
de Costa had directed the raids with the participation of a team of
officers including Jayantha de Silva and Dhammika Liyanaarachchi.
