Police raid ganja plantation
Katugastota Police raided a one acre ganja
plantation in the Sahangala Forest reserve in Hasalaka and destroyed
nearly 5,000 ganja plants which had grown to a height of about 3
feet recently.

Police bare vehicle racket
Police have bared a racket where vehicle chassis
numbers had been duplicated and identical number plates tagged on
two lorries. The details of the racket came to light when two
lorries with identical number plates were seized by the Special
Crimes Investigation Unit of the Kurunegala Police.

Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq
Parvez Kayani at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart
arrives in Sri Lanka on Wednesday (19) on a three-day goodwill
visit. General Kayani, accompanied by Begum Zahida Kayani and senior
officers is scheduled to call on President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Prime
Minister D M Jayaratne and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
