The country can be the skilled service provider and no longer should
be the unskilled service provider. Thereby it could increase the foreign
exchange income, said Treasury Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera at the
ceremony to induct Sujeewa Mudalige as the 20th President of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka, yesterday.
“Our tax regime should be entirely different from the rest of the
region. It should be simplified, transparent and encourage investment
opportunities,” he said.
The future of Sri Lanka will be the improvement of the middle income
country status to doubled the per capita income from current US $ 2,200
to US $ 4,000.
“This increase in the per capita income would ensure every household
with electricity, access to drinking water, modern telecommunication and
transport facilities. The development policy framework will not only
address the development issues, but would also focus on creating a green
environment,” he said. |
