Early detection of Cancer

The Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) has initiated a biodosimetry project which can be used for early detection of cancer in cancer prone individuals as well as monitor exposure to radiation in those with occupational and accidental exposure using blood samples.

This is a project initiated under the technical cooperation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) with the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya and the Atomic Energy Authority.

This will be the first project of its nature in Sri Lanka to monitor accidental and occupational exposure to radiations using biological material.
