Book on ‘Key Persons’ Forum Speeches 2008 launched

The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) in its quest to promote and expand trade and industry with special focus on micro, small and medium (SMEs) teamed up with Friedrich Naumann Foundation of Germany and formulated a Networking Forum for Public Private Policy Dialogue, a monthly high level policy forum of SME Developers.

A part of SMED activity, the Key Persons’ Forum (KPF) is a business/public awareness program on issues of business, economy and the society. KPF provides a platform for eminent persons to discuss and share experience on policy perspectives face-to-face on matters of interest to private sector.

KPF aims at entrepreneurs, corporate heads, bankers, consultants, legal community, company secretaries and other representatives of the private sector, professionals, academics and civil society.

The following addressed the Forum in 2008: Karu Jayasuriya as Minister of Public Administration; President, Sri Lanka Economic Association, Prof. A. D. V. S. Indraratne; Chairman, Bribery Commission, Justice Ameer Ismail; Chairman, Ceylon Electricity Board, Udayasiri Kariyawasam; Chairman, SriLankan Airlines, Dr. P. B. Jayasundera; Minister of Fisheries, Felix Perera; Export and International Trade Minister, Prof. G. L. Peiris and Environment and Natural Resources Minister Champika Ranawaka. While continuing the KPF in 2009 on schedule, the climax of the 2008 activities has been the compiling of all these speeches and presenting them as a publication of FCCISL.

The first copy of the book ‘Key Persons’ Forum Collection of Speeches 2008’ was presented to Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister Dr Sarath Amunugama by President, FCCISL, Kosala Wickramanayake.

Wickramanayake said that KPF is an intellectual stimulant to the private sector which enables it to be alive and conscious in matters that affect not only its operational environment but also in a broader sense competitiveness in the midst of many challenges.
