Series of book launches
A’pura: The History of May Day and the Ban on May Day 87 written by
Dharman Wickremaratne will be launched at the National Literary Arts
Festival scheduled to be held at Anuradhapura today and at the BMICH on
September 22 at 2.00 p.m.
The book dealing with the history of workers’ revolutionary struggle
since the Mul-oya battle in 1940 lays emphasis on the Hartal of 1953,
labour demonstrations of 1947 and 1980 and the May Day ban in 1987. The
book is available at a concessionary rate at the International Book
Exhibition at BMICH Book Stall No.D177 from September 16 to 24.
The Students’ Movement of Sri Lanka, a research work containing true
stories relating to the students’ struggles in Sri Lanka, written by
Dharman Wickremaratne will be launched at the BMICH on September 22 at
2.00 p.m. Its first launching will take place at the National Literary
Arts Festival scheduled to be held at Anuradhapura today.
The book illustrates the expansion of international students’
struggles including the assassination of under graduates Weerasooriya,
Padmasiri, Rohana and Daya Pathirana and extends up to the present time.
The book is available at a concessionary rate at the International Book
Exhibition at BMICH Stall No.D177 from September 16 to 24.
Water falls of Sinharaja and Ratnapura portraying the scenic beauty
of 27 water falls enveloping Sinharaja Forests edited by Dharman
Wickremaratne and Niroshana Peiris will be launched on the sponsorship
of Sri Lanka Environmental Journalists Forum at the International Book
Exhibition at BMICH complex from September 16 to 24 where the book can
be bought at a concessionary rate.
The book will be available at Stall No.D177 at the Sirimavo
Bandaranaike Exhibition Hall. |
