COLOMBO: The Power and Energy Ministry will revise salaries of
employees of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) for 2006 on priority
basis once it received the Committee report on the salary revision, the
Ministry official said.
“Once the Minister received the report, the report would be studied
and salary revisions would be determined.” He said that the report was
expected within this week.
He stated that the salary revisions for the 2003, which was delayed,
were paid to the employees in 2005 under the directive of Minister W. D.
J. Senevirathne though the CEB was saddled with heavy debts.
He reiterated that the Minister had decided to pay their salary
revisions for 2006 even amidst heavy debts of the CEB over 93 billion
rupees. The official regarded the statement issued by the CEB Union,
Lanka Viduli Sevaka Sangamaya calling for a trade union action was
irresponsible demeaning the efforts of the Minister to expedite the
process. |
