Will Anoma be there? Sri Lanka woman sprinter Anoma Sooriyarachchi may make it to the Olympic Games in Athens if she reaches Olympic 'B' qualification mark of 11.40 seconds at this weekend's IAAF ratified international meeting in Wales. Reports said the Lankan lass, who migrated to UK after running in her last meet on home soil at the 2002 Asian Championships in Colombo, has been shaping well. She has turned out to be one of the top foreign athletes in Wales. However, the AASL said they would not ratify Sooriyarachchi's accreditation papers even if she reach the qualifying mark. AASL President Sunil Jayaweera said she has not run at a local meet for the last two years and that they are unaware of her timings. (D.W.) |
