PM congratulates Manjula kumara

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse was the first to congratulate Sri Lanka's champion high jumper Manjula Kumara Wijesekera, who set a new Sri Lanka national record and qualified for next month's Olympic Games in Athens.

The PM spoke to young Wijesekera, another proud product from down south, over a mobile phone immediately after the record breaking feat.

Prime Minister Rajapakse said the feat of Wijesekera would not only make the South proud but the whole country. He wished Wijesekera all the best and another record breaking performance at the Olympics to make Sri Lanka proud.

Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Sripathi Sooriyarachchi too called Wijesekera to convey his best wishes and that of Minister Jeewan Kumaratunga. (D.W.)
