Sangamitta Balika enter finals

Sangamitta Balika Vidyalaya, Matale trounced Pushpadana Girls College, Kandy 5-0 to enter the finals of Central Province schools under 19 hockey tournament and played at the Nandimithra Ekanayake International Hockey Stadium, Matale yesterday. At half time the Sangamitta girls led 3-0.

Highlight of the match was the power packed display by winners centre forward Sandaruwani Jayaratne who tore into the defence of Pushpadana Girls College to slam the first three goals which brought her the coveted hat-trick.

With Sandaruwani Jayaratne doing the initial damage left extreme Vinodhya Lakshani and centre half Navorjani Ekanayake scored a goal each in the second half to complete the victory.
