PSC conducts first sitting

The Parliamentary Select Committee(PSC)appointed "to recommend and
report on political and constitutional measures to empower the people of
Sri Lanka to live as one nation" conducted its first sitting yesterday.
Leader of the House and Irrigation and Water Resources Management
Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva chaired the committee which met at a
committee room in the Parliamentary complex.
The committee commenced sittings at 3.00 pm and the meeting lasted
for 40 minutes with 19 members nominated the by the government taking
part.
They were Ministers Prof G. L. Peiris, Maithripala Sirisena, W. D. J.
Seneviratne, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Dinesh Gunawardena, Douglas
Devananda, Susil Premajayantha, A. L. M. Athaulla, D. E. W. Gunasekera,
Rishad Bathiudeen, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Wimal Weerawansa, Basil
Rohana Rajapaksa, Lakshman Seneviratne, Vasudeva Nanayakkara, Deputy
Minister Muthu Sivalingam, MPs Dr Sudrashini Fernandopulle and Janaka
Bandara.
The PSC is scheduled to meet again at 2.30 pm on July 26. The
Opposition members to the committee have not been nominated as yet.
