D.Litt. for Professor Sunil Ariyaratne

Award-winning lyricist, filmmaker and the most senior lecturer of Sri Jayawardenepura University, Professor Sunil Ariyaratne will be honoured with D.Litt. the highest award granted by a university. The decision is unanimously agreed by the University’s senate.

Sri Jayawardenepura University Chancellor Ven Professor Bellanwila Wimalarathana Thera will bestow this honour upon Professor Ariyaratne at the 39th Degree Convocation Ceremony held at BMICH on July 11.

The D.Litt. is the second literary award degree bestowed upon Professor Ariyaratne.

He was earlier conferred a D.Litt. by University of Visual Performances in 2011.

This is a rare occurrence.
