DHL Express awards GOGREEN Certificate to SCB
DHL, the world's leading Logistics Company, today announced that it
has awarded Standard Chartered Bank Sri Lanka (SCB) a carbon credit
certificate for using the company’s carbon neutral shipment option DHL
GOGREEN.
Standard Chartered Bank is the first company to receive this kind of
certificate from DHL in Sri Lanka.
Standard Chartered Bank Sri Lanka offsets for 2012 were 5000 kg of
CO2 via DHL GOGREEN products and services. Deutsche Post DHL carbon
management offsets the carbon emissions generated by transportation
through different climate protection projects around the world including
a biomass and a hydro power plant in India and Brazil and a wind farm in
China.
Malcolm Monteiro, CEO, DHL Express South Asia said “As part of our
sustainability measures, we actively work towards reducing the impact of
logistics on the environment by minimizing the use of natural resources
and using the most efficient transport. Therefore we are proud to be
associated with a prestigious bank such as Standard Chartered Bank that
is equally conscious of their CO2 emissions. Globally we develop
innovative ways to reduce the impact which will make a significant
contribution to companies such as Standard Chartered Bank.”
DHL’s customers who avail DHL GOGREEN products and services get this
certification each year. The GOGREEN certificate is issued by Deutsche
Post DHL carbon management and verified by SGS. Further information on
Carbon Management and the GOGREEN products, services and projects can be
