Singapore International Jewellery Show dazzles
The seventh Singapore International Gem and Jewellery Expo Exhibition
-2013 concluded last Sunday at Marina Bay Sand- Exhibition and
Convention Centre with the participation of thousands of prospective
buyers and exporters and other stakeholders.
This show attracted many buyers and retailers from ASEAN and Asia
Pacific region who were looking for new designs, knowledge and new
business opportunities. The event was organized by the Singapore Gem and
Jewellery Association. Member of Parliament Pagan Group Representation
Constituency (GRC) Dr Lily Neo was the chief guest , while Minister
Susil Premajayanth participated as a special guest at this prestigious
event in Singapore.
The visitors included jewellers, watch and clock makers, gold and
silversmiths, mineralogists, gem setters, diamond experts, gemologists,
owners and employees of antique shops and engravers. All Sri Lankan
exhibitors appreciated the government's support and incentives for the
local gem and jewellery sector.
The event was coordinated by the National Gem and Jewellery Authority
(NGJA). The government has identified the gem and jewellery industry as
one of the thrust areas of development, which has given unprecedented
incentives to the sector through the last budget, which help the country
to promote as a hub in the region future, he said.
The U.S.A., Thailand, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Italy, France, India,
Malaysia, Singapore, China, Canada and Germany are among the top export
destinations for Sri Lankan gems and Jewellery.
More than 200 stalls from different countries exhibited at the event,
while 20 local companies were participating at the Sri Lankan pavilion,
which were Gamini Gem and Jewellery (Pvt) Ltd, Ceylon Beauty Gems, Neil
Gems, D.B Enterprises, Sena Gem Trading House (Pvt) Ltd,Saf's Classique
Gems (Pvt) Ltd,Super Shine Gems, The Gold Gems, Nawamini.Com (Pvt)
Ltd,Regal Gems (Pvt) Limited, Nem Lanka Jewellers and Sweeny Jewellers.
