S. Korean assistance to upgrade Sri Jayawardanapura NTS

Inje University of South Korea has offered assistance to upgrade the
training at the Sri Jayawardanapura Nurses Training School (NTS). The
MoU in this regard was signed recently by Health Ministry Secretary Dr.
Nihal Jayatilleke and Inje University Chairman Dr. Won Ro Lee, a Health
Ministry spokesman said.
According to the spokesman, the MoU was signed in the presence of
Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena, South Korean Ambassador Jong moon
Choi, and a delegation from Inje University, South Korea. Under the MoU,
assistance will be provided for a period of four years. Assistance will
be provided to standardize the academic activities of the academic staff
attached to the Sri Jayawardanapura NTS. Inje University of Korea will
also assist lecturers with the BSc degree and senior Medical Officers to
enter Inje University to pursue their studies.
"The university will assist carry out research activities in
identified fields and also provide the required equipment," he said.
Minister Sirisena thanked the South Korean Government for all the
assistance extended to Sri Lanka during the past, especially the Korea -
Sri Lanka Friendship Hospital build at Godagama. He stated it is now
being developed as the largest hospital in the Southern Province.
Direcor General, Health services, Dr. Palitha Mahipala was also present,
he added.
