A woman robbed a gold chain valued at Rs 55,000 from the occupants of a house at Karathanwilluwa, who provided her overnight lodging during Poson on humanitarian grounds, was arrested by Mundalama Police.

Police recovered the item which had been mortgaged to a pawn shop.

The woman was remanded on being produced before Puttalam Additional District Judge and Magistrate Bharati R Wijeratne. Investigations are continuing.
