Thal Sevana Holiday Resort bags gold

The “Thal Sevana Holiday Resort’ in Jaffna was awarded a Gold medal
and named “ International Star for Leadership in Quality Award,” at a
function held in France by beating 188 holiday resorts throughout the
world.
Jaffna Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and other senior
officials of the hotel received the award at a function.
The Thal Sevana Holiday resort which had been popular among local and
foreign tourists, including state guests, diplomats and ambassadors who
travelled in the Northern region of the country.
The objective of establishing the resort in the Jaffna peninsular,
had been to facilitate the members of the Armed Forces, their families
and civilians who wished to spend their holidays in Jaffna. As the
influx of tourists had increased tremendously, the magnificent
two-storied bungalow had emerged at the same site of the former Thal
Sevana, with many modifications such as air-conditioned and
non-air-conditioned spacious rooms, a balcony with a panoramic view of
the sea, restaurant and bar facilities.
The resort had been constructed on a concept of Jaffna Commander
Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe.
