National Farmers' Week -2013:
Modern agriculture technologies to be introduced

The National Farmers' Week -2013, Agriculture Exhibition will be held
at Wariyapola Agriculture Complex from July 6 to 10 under the patronage
of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardane said the North Western
Province is a main agricultural area in the country famous for paddy
cultivation.
He said so addressing the media at the Agriculture Ministry recently.
"We decided to hold this year's National Farmers' Week in Wariyapola
with the objective of introducing modern agriculture technologies for
farmers and the public," he said.
The opening day of the exhibition is named Agriculture Mechanization
Day and the opening ceremony will be held with the participation of the
President.
The second day of the exhibition is named Agriculture Education Day
and North Western Province Governor Tissa Balalla and North Western
Province Transport Minister Athula Wijesinghe will participate as the
chief guests.
The third day of the exhibition is named Healthy Food Production Day
and Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena will be the chief guest.
The fourth day of the exhibition is Youth Attraction Day and Defence
Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Youth Affairs and Skills Development
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma and North Western Province Agriculture
Minister D B Herath will participate as chief guests. The closing day of
the exhibition is named Economic Agriculture Day and Economic
Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa will be the chief guest.
Agricultural products, sales stalls, agriculture mechanization
exhibitions, agriculture education seminars, agriculture research
information, cultivation practices, exhibitions and local food promotion
programmes will be held at the exhibition premises. |
