New SLRC Director General
Veteran administrator and media personality Chandarapala Liyanage was
appointed as the Director General of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini
Corportation (SLRC) yesterday by Media and Information Minister Keheliya
Rambukwella, under the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
He was the Additional Director of the Government Information
Department and is also a Presidential Media Director.
Liyanage has wide experience in both print and electronic media. He
acted as the Director of Prime Ministers media when President Rajapaksa
was the Prime Minister.
During his tenure as an Advisor at the Sri Lankan embassy in Italy he
did yeomen service as a media personality to counter the malicious
propaganda against the country by the LTTE.
He is a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree holder from the Ruhuna
University and also has a Master's degree. He is an old boy of the
Richmond College, Galle.
Media and Information Ministry Secretary Charitha Herath too
participated on the occasion of awarding the appointment letter to Mr.
Liyanage by Minister Rambukwella yesterday.
